The Rwanda Lunar series
2017 marks the start of a new lunar series from Rwanda, consisting of 12 issues spread over 12 years and based on the Chinese lunar calendar and its animal motifs. The year 2017 is the year of the rooster. The issue includes a version in brilliant uncirculated, the coins are individually shrink-wrapped, the mintage is unlimited and will only be produced until the end of each year. There is also an edition in proof, encapsulated with certificate and limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide, as well as an edition in 1 oz fine gold, with case and certificate and limited to just 100 pieces worldwide! The same manufacturer also produces the Rwanda African Ounce silver series, which is very popular with collectors and investors and whose older issues are already fetching high collector's premiums. The same is expected of this new issue, in particular the first issues of a series can usually command the highest collector's premiums.
