The trident, which serves as the national symbol of Barbados and can be found on the Barbados national flag, differs from Neptune's trident in that the shaft of the Barbadian trident is broken. It symbolizes Barbados' historic break and eventual independence from the United Kingdom in 1966. The issuing country of this series is therefore, how could it be otherwise, Barbados. The series is minted by the well-known Scottsdale Mint from the USA.
