1 ounce Ag 1.5 Euro 2019 825 years Austrian Mint - Wiener Neustadt
Silver ounce 999
The obverse of the three anniversary coins is adorned with the equestrian seal of Leopold V, showing the ruler as a general: on horseback, with shield and banner. The original can be found in Heiligenkreuz Abbey. The very place where Leopold V is buried. ? It is remarkable how dynamic and energetic the depiction appears. Fitting for a duke who achieved a great deal.
Wiener Neustadt:
Wiener Neustadt is one of those cities that did not slowly develop into one, but was founded and planned as one. The city was built in the Steinfeld, the southernmost part of the Vienna Basin. A fortified town was intended to help secure the border between the duchies of Austria and Styria against the Hungarian kingdom. The silver with which Richard the Lionheart had bought his freedom provided the necessary capital to build the new town (Nova Civitas). Wiener Neustadt is the second silver bullion coin in the 825th anniversary series of the Vienna Mint. Quality: normal mintage
